President Droupadi Murmu to Undertake Historic Three-Nation State Visit to Moldova, North Macedonia and Romania
President Droupadi Murmu will undertake a historic three-nation state visit to Moldova, North Macedonia, and Romania from July 19, featuring high-level talks, parliamentary meetings, business forums, and community interactions. The visit marks India’s first presidential visits to Moldova and North Macedonia while strengthening ties with Eastern Europe.
During the first leg of her visit, President Murmu will travel to Moldova on the 20th, where she will meet her counterpart, President Maia Sandu, and hold delegation-level talks. She will also meet the President of the Parliament of Moldova, Igor Grosu, and interact with members of the Moldova-India Parliamentary Friendship Group.
As part of her engagements in Moldova, President Murmu will address a business forum and interact with members of the Indian community. This visit will mark the first-ever visit by an Indian President to Moldova, highlighting a new chapter in bilateral relations between the two countries.
In the second phase of her state visit, President Murmu will visit North Macedonia from the 21st of this month. This will also be the first-ever visit by an Indian President to North Macedonia.
During her stay in North Macedonia, President Murmu will hold bilateral discussions with her counterpart, President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova. She is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and the President of the Assembly. The President will address the Assembly of North Macedonia and participate in the India-North Macedonia Business Forum to promote economic cooperation between the two nations.
The final leg of President Murmu’s state visit will take her to Romania from the 23rd of this month for a two-day visit. During her stay, she will meet Romanian President Nicușor Dan, Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, President of the Senate Mircea Abrudean, and President of the Chamber of Deputies Sorin Grindeanu.
President Murmu will also meet members of the Romania-India Parliamentary Friendship Group. Her schedule includes an address at the India-Romania Business Forum and interactions with members of the Indian community in Romania.
The Ministry of External Affairs stated that President Murmu’s three-nation state visit reflects India’s commitment to expanding and deepening bilateral relations with Moldova, North Macedonia, and Romania while enhancing engagement with the broader Eastern European region. The historic visit is expected to further strengthen diplomatic, economic, and people-to-people ties between India and these countries.
